Stippling is a medium that provides me with the utmost peace. The redundant, strenuous process of dotting the same area for hours relieves me of any stress that is occurring in my life and forces me to concentrate on the task at hand. It is my mental escape. I become pleasantly consumed by the details of my pieces whether they are the creases in the eyelids or the texture of the hair. Each area requires love and attentiveness in order to clearly illustrate the emotions my characters are expressing.

Technique: stippling (all dots)
Time: 650 hrs
Awards: "Best of Show" by Texas Association of Schools of Art Artovation 2021

"Untitled" is inspired by a friend I view as strong and yet fearful. She exudes the energy of a queen with her confidence to speak her mind and her genuine love for others. She wears the headdress inspired by the women of the Ndebele tribe who exude an abundance of light. However, her fear stems from those who betrayed her trust and took advantage of her light. Her relaxed facial expression and the very slight curvature of the eyes illustrates that she is terrified of more betrayal, but must conceal that emotion with her strength.

"Sadboy"
Technique: stippling (all dots)
Time: 600 hrs

"Sadboy" is inspired by a person in my past who I viewed as broken and defeated. His eyes carried the weight of enduring constant pain as well as the guilt for the extreme pain he has caused others. The subtle shadows in the eyebrows and forehead illustrate his cry for help from his depressive disposition.
